Please read up on both sides before commenting people. I've done my research, but I also personally feel the effects of the shut down and the ongoing stalemate. I feel betrayed by the people I voted for. But do your research and you'll see where blame should lie.

"The American public views the Republican party?s motives in the shutdown as overwhelmingly political. And looking political is the absolute worst thing that can happen to a political party."

im not being one sided but i think it is really the Republicans whom we should blame.. Those who are for them can tell their defense and how and why and what about the Obamacare? The president is a democrat, most people in the house is democrat.

It was the Republicans all the way! What planet where they living on thinking it was a good idea to hold the whole country hostage to try to win when the odds were stacked against them from the beginning?

My dad works for Veterans Affairs and is now on furlough. He takes care of my mom who has a medical condition and my two younger brothers who are now in college. This stalemate has to end soon. Both sides can work together to fix this NOW. So both sides share the responsibility and the blame.

I think they announced today that everyone on furlough would get back pay. So, I hope that helps your dad out. :)

This is hurting everyone. I know that each party is trying to make a principled stand. Each party thinks it's serving the people's interest -- and they probably are in the long view. However, what they're willing to sacrifice in the short-term to achieve their goals hurts the very people they're trying to help. And while the hurt may be temporary (mostly), it's hurt just the same. I think our country has been hurting for a while, so more pain is not something that people can take lightly.

  • 56.52%

Right on! But I really think more of the blame rests on the Reps. The Democrats stood their ground but did not hold the country hostage. It was the Reps who did that.
